Questions people ask about protecting an ID copy
How do I watermark a copy of my IC or passport?
Add a photo or PDF of your IC or passport, type what the copy is for (for example "For tenancy only"), and the page tiles that wording and today's date across the whole copy. Then save or share the protected copy. It is free and needs no account.
Is it safe? Is my IC uploaded anywhere?
Your files are not uploaded. Everything happens inside your own browser, so your IC, passport or bill never leaves your phone or computer. The page is built so it cannot send anything to another website.
How do I black out my IC number or address?
Drag a box over the part the other side does not need, such as the IC number, address or photo. The box is solid black and burned into the picture, so it cannot be peeled off later. Blur is optional, but blurring can sometimes be undone.
Can I put the front and back of my IC on one A4 page?
Yes. Add both photos, crop each one to the card edges, and the tool places them on one A4 page at real card size, front on top and back below. Print at Actual size or 100%, not Fit to page.
What files can I use?
JPG, PNG, iPhone HEIC photos and PDFs. You can add several files together, such as the front and back of an IC. Hidden data such as GPS location and camera details is removed from the saved copy.
Does a watermark stop people misusing my IC?
It makes misuse harder, not impossible. The repeating wording and date show what the copy was meant for and cross the important details so they are hard to remove cleanly. Only send what is really needed, and ask how long they will keep it.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in the browser on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac and Linux, in English, Bahasa Melayu and Chinese. You can take a photo straight from the page.
